A Garden Party…On the Beach!

When my dear, dear friend asked me recently if she could hire The Craft Shack to plan her daughters first birthday party, I was honored and so excited! She’s a busy mama of two with a thriving business and many other talents.

The process began with TCS coming up with a list if options in order to establish a concept for the party. Once the concept was established, a “Garden Party”, we set out to put together all the details. Her details included: location, inviting guests, paper goods and food. Our details included the overall ambiance and decorations, the activities/crafts and treat bags. The location that she selected could not have been more perfect. A beautiful park in Cambria, which is a peaceful and postcard perfect little town on the CA Central Coast. It was well worth the travel time.

The decor included our pretty pennant banners with sepia toned photographs of the birthday girl interspersed between. We had flower pots with over-sized paper flowers and a personalized name banner for the birthday girl. The tables were adorned with mis-matched but coordinated table covers and burlap.

The activity table was covered with paper so the children could color or paint right on it.

The activities that we came up with included a fingerprint art project that we mounted onto a flower and painting peat pots (or their little hands) to plant a flower to take home.

A treasure hunt. This one was so fun, the children did it twice. With garden themed erasers form the $1 store, we scanned them in and created a treasure matching game.

After they matched them all up, they got a pretty flower ribbon to wear and a handful of erasers to put into their goodie bag to take home.

The highlight was most definitely watching the birthday girl enjoy her first piece of cake. And the moment that brought the most laughter was when she clearly preferred chocolate over strawberry.

A beautiful day for a beautiful little girl. Special memories made. And one more pic of this beautiful family.

  1. […] I love summer! Perhaps more than ever before since I technically have the summer ‘off’ from teaching and get to do lots of fun things. We started our summer fun the week of Memorial day (actually, the week before that when we did a quickie road trip for this awesome party!) […]
