The 4th of July has always been my favorite holiday! Memories of summer days, the beach, fireworks, parades, homemade ice-cream and just a lot of fun fill my mind.
I’m fortunate to live in a city that celebrates the 4th with vigor! The parade in Huntington Beach is the place to be and such a great way to connect with our community and friends. Before the parade, we race with our daughter in the .5K kids run. Maybe next year, I’ll be ready to run the actual 5K myself.
Last year after a long hiatus, they began to allow residents to launch (safe) fireworks at home once again. This made me so happy! We’ll be buying fireworks again this week for some night time fun on the 4th. They also put on an amazing fireworks show at the beach but there is just something about lighting them off yourself…
The American themed crafts that everyone comes up with for the 4th is always a lot of fun too. Here is a collection of some that we’ve been ‘pinning’ on Pinterest:
Inspired by this, we’ve made a few of our own.
We painted our nails.
We made a paper banner.
And using our Silhouette and pretty scrapbook paper, we re-purposed these 2×4 blocks that you see at the top of the page and surrounding them with a rag banner from Michaels, it makes a perfect centerpiece or decor item.
I might opt to make some of the confetti launchers to take to the parade with us too!
What are your plans for the holiday? Do you BBQ, craft or watch a fireworks show? However you choose to celebrate, be safe and have fun!
